I see this disclaimer everywhere! What is it? What does it mean? What’s a TPMO? Should I be concerned? You don’t offer every plan? Why not?
Why we don’t offer all plans
It would be almost impossible to offer every plan in an area as there are plans that only specific agents are even allowed to sell. That doesn’t mean they have a secret amazing plan. It generally means they are first part agents to the provider itself. The strongest plans in an area are generally available to every agent. Additionally, each provider has requirements that an agent must satisfy before they are allowed to sell their plans. We ensure our agents have the proper credentials to offer what we feel are the strongest plans in the area.
If there are plans we don’t offer, it is because we don’t feel like the process to become eligible to sell them is worth selling the plan or we wouldn’t be allowed to sell it in the first place. Each year we examine each provider and determine if they are offering competitive plans at all. More often then you would imagine, they are not.
TPMO – Third-Party Marketing Organizations
We offer many plans on behalf of many organizations. This qualifies us as a third-party organization. Although we focus on supporting and assisting our clients long after a plan has been selected, many agents do not. These disclaimers are meant to protect Medicare eligible individuals from the predatory practice of the majority of agencies. Many agents in our area are only concerned with selling plans and making sales leader boards. Our focus is on educating and assisting our local community.
However, we encourage you to explore the options available at Medicare.gov. Finally, once you have decided which plan you would like, we suggest you come in and let us help you enroll. If you ever need assistance, we have access to tools that regular consumers do not. If you enroll on your own, you are stuck on your own when facing denials of service etc..
The TPMO disclaimer you will start seeing everywhere:
We do not offer every plan available in your area. Any information we provide is limited to those plans we do offer in your area. Please contact Medicare.gov or 1-800-MEDICARE to get information on all of your options.
